Tired of being the only nut at the park with a whip, I'm the guy that got all of this started. If you have any questions or want to blame someone, start here.

From early childhood I've been around horses and whips. I got my first taste for the whip on my families horse farm, while working Thoroughbreds in the paddock with a lunge whip.  My growing passion was fueled by movies like "The Man From Snowy River" and "Indiana Jones." Although most of my whip experience involves working with them and flicking flies off the fence in boredom, I've recently become interested in the more complex aspects of whip cracking skill.

I'm Uwe from Wilhelmshaven/Germany, 35 years old, a WE member-at-large, whip cracker and whip collector. The first contact to whips I had about 18 years ago, when a friend bought a 12ft swivel handle bullwhip (that summer, Indiana Jones was No.1 movie in German theatres). We tried around with it in the garden, annoying the neighbours. Without any instruction available that time, the success was rather small. After a long pause I found my way back to whips in 1994 when I bought an old item on a small flea market. Then I started whip collecting as well as whip cracking. The collection includes whips by David Morgan, Mike Murphy, Peter Jack, Terry Jacka, Steve Koliski and many more, plus whips literally from all around the world. I work at a German university in the faculty of economical sciences. Additionally, I am a drawing artist, see the logo I created some years ago.

Clive011.jpg (70926 bytes) Clive is a native of England, but has lived in Texas for 17 years.  A measure of his acculturation is his happiness to adopt one of the great symbols of the Wild West, the bull whip, and to be out there in the heat of the Texas midsummer afternoon practicing with it!  He has been an active participant in the group since its beginning, and has thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, in which the willingness of experts to help beginners in a low key, friendly way has made learning great fun."

My name is Martin Putis, I live in Bratislava, Slovakia, Europe. I don´t know when exactly I got into whips, it seems to me like since ever. I remember that as young boy I paid attention to this field, I was watching
the whip scenes in movies with highest attention.

Here in Slovakia we have traditional slovak style whip which resembles stock whip in its basic form. It has wooden handle mostly not coated with leather
plaits. My whip on this picture is bull whip, 10 ft long, 24 plaits. I like to practice with it.

Howdy, my name is Jim Jarrell from Southern PA, and I am a member at large.

I am 29 and married,  My wife also has her own whips and sometimes does target work with me, her name is Amanda. My first whip was a four plait cowhide bullwhip that had a belly constructed of straw. It was fairly cheap, about $20, I wore it out quickly, from constant use, usually during rain events. Now I know a little more, I put waterproofer on all my whips. My collection consist of 7 bullwhips, three snakewhips and a whitehide stockwhip, with out the partridge in a pear tree. If you would like to know more about me, or my whips, or my wife's whip activities feel free to email.

Hello,
my name is Amanda Jarrell from PA.
I first acquired an interest in whips after I was introduced to them, through my husband Jim.
I now can do all the basic cracks, and can target cut Styrofoam strips, and pop balloons, and, I'm trying to
learn difference sequence's.
My job usually limits my time, but, when I do finally get the chance to practice, I find cracking whips extremely fun and challenging, and not with out the occasional stripe, but as time goes on I hope to improve.
My favorite whips so far include, a 12 plait 7' bullwhip made by Peter Jack, and a whitehide stockwhip, from Mike Murphy.
Happy cracking to all.
Warm Regards
Amanda.

Howdy, I am Mike from Atlanta, GA. I have been fascinated with whips ever since I was a child. I have a growing collection of bulls, snakes and a few others. I have been practicing for about a year and I love to cut targets! You can see a movie of me at work on the pictures page.   Keep em' crackin'

My name is Dale Dassel. I am a 21 year-old whip enthusiast from Warner Robins, GA.

I was captivated when I first saw Raiders of the Lost Ark
back in 1986. It has been my dream to own an authentic Indiana Jones outfit and learn how to use the bullwhip. I own two David Morgan bullwhips, a 6-foot and a
12-foot model in the #451 series. I have been using whips since I was 13, and am quite proficient at target cutting, wraps, and multiple cracking. My greatest ambition is to find my red-headed Celtic soulmate, and teach her how to use the bullwhip.

Hi, I’m Drew from central Missouri. I’ve had a fascination with whips ever since I can remember. I’ll never forget as a boy walking through my neighborhood trying to figure out who was lighting M-80’s. I can still remember my disbelief when I found the explosions were a neighbor cracking a large bullwhip. From that day on I have been hooked. I enjoy multiple cracking and am trying to hone my target skills. Horses are another passion of mine, but unfortunately, they don’t seem to share my appreciation of the single tail.

Hi,

My name is Jim Markell. I live on the east coast in Northern New Jersey. Like many of you, my first exposure to the whip was when I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark when I was 12, and I've been hooked ever since. After five or six years of only being able to find junky, gift shop whips I pretty much gave up the sport. When I was 26 and discovered the Internet, I was finally able to get my hands on the kind of whips I had been looking for. Now, four years later, I have a nice collection of whips from Indy's to stockwhips. I'm always looking for people to do some cracking with and learn some new tricks. So if you're ever in my neck of the woods feel free to look me up.
